Supporting Children and Families in Our Community
Sunshine Arts is a safe haven for children and families in our neighborhood. If someone is locked out of his/her house they come to Sunshine Arts to make a call or wait it out, have a cookie, some soup, a pretzel stick and a glass of iced tea. We also have two large aquariums filled with fish and turtles, that they can come and enjoy any time.
We have been known to drive a child to school when he or she misses the bus. We attend basketball games, track meets, elementary school graduations, and award ceremonies. We have helped our immigrant neighbors navigate the maze of paperwork they sometimes have to contend with. Band aids are always available for scraped knees.
Neighborhood Cleanup & Beautification
Sunshine Arts organizes periodic cleanup days to help protect our natural environment and keep our neighborhood in ship shape! Many of our Board members and neighbors lend a hand at these events. Please contact us to find out how to take part in our next cleanup.
In 2015, Executive Director Sheila Modglin formed a Neighborhood Alliance, an organization that provides a forum for neighbors to share ideas ideas and work together to reach common goals.
